Cordially invite your attendance at an important grave marking ceremony on November 7th at 2pm at the
Orchard Crest Subdivision off HWY 101 in Greer, SC
Three patriots will be honored and memorialized with headstones and markers supplied by the SAR and
SR. Those patriots in this cemetery and of whom you will learn about their role in our Revolution are:
Colonel John Thomas, first commander of the famous Spartan Regiment.
Jane Thomas, the Col.’s wife and fiery patriot in her own right.
Thomas Edwards, Pvt in the 4th SC Regiment, Artillery of the Continental Line.
The cemetery is in the middle of the Subdivision, and the ceremony will be held in the cemetery itself.
No seating will be available and we encourage you to bring your lawn chairs. In the bounds of the fenced
in cemetery are the graves of 71 other souls with those graves marked by the HOA with cobblestones.
Parking will be on the streets and at the pool area. The HOA will be directing traffic and there will be golf
cart transportation made available by our residents.
We are pleased to have the SC Independent Rangers fire a musket salute, and the 5th Co., 4th SC
Regiment, Artillery offering a cannon salute.
We encourage attendance by all militia men, black powder musketeers, and those in full Continental or
