SAR Chapters in South Carolina were active and attended multiple Wreaths Across America Ceremonies. Here are few.
Sunset Memorial Cemetery Graniteville
Ted Walker VP Piedmont Region SCSSAR and President Elect Neel Flannagan, Henry Laurens Chapter, Aiken SC Society Sons of The American Revolution participated in ceremonies where 1400 wreaths were placed on veterans graves honoring veterans 18 December 2019. The ceremony was held at Sunset memorial Cemetery in Graniteville, South Carolina with Local veterans groups, SC Patriot riders, Local High School NJROTC cadets units from Aiken H.S., Silver Bluff, Midland Valley, South Aiken, Sea Cadets, Civil Air Patrol, Scout Troops, Daughters of the American Revolution, Children of the American Revolution, Fort Gordon’s military Honor Guard, veterans, families and many others approximately 600 folks were in attendance. The event organizer was Mr. Tony Venetz a local veteran and Richard Dorman Commander District 15 South Carolina American Legion.
The master of ceremonies was Barry Jones; Colonel, USA retired a former commander of a paratrooper unit.
Hammond Family Cemetery North Augusta
On December 18, 2021 organizations from Augusta, GA, North Augusta, SC, Aiken, SC, Edgefield, SC and Trenton, SC attended and participated in a wonderful tribute to those who fought for America’s freedom. The Daughters of the American Revolution, Sons of the American Revolution, Children of the American Revolution, American Legion Post 71 members, American Legion Post 26, William Few Chapter President Alan Smith, Henry Laurens Chapter President Elect Neel Flannagan, local veterans and individuals from around the area attended and participated in a Wreath’s Across America Ceremony held at the Hammond Family Cemetery in North Augusta SC.
The Ceremony was conducted by Beth S. Francis from NSDAR Martintown Road Chapter, The Colorguard consisted of Members from the C.A.R and SAR from SC and GA. The National Anthem was sung by Mike Milheim from American Legion Post 71, Pledge lead by Odus Francis from American Legion Post 71, America’s Creed lead by Lawren Hammond, Regent Martintown Road NSDAR Chapter and Taps were given by Keven Joy Commander American Legion Post 71. The ceremony and tribute to America’s hero’s was very moving and reverent. Special thanks to all who participated and made this program a total success
Old Stone Church Cemetery Clemson
On December 18, 2021, the Andrew Pickens Chapter, NSDAR sponsored a Wreaths Across America Event at Old Stone Church Cemetery in Clemson, SC. The event honored veterans of all the services, Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard, Merchant Marine, MIA’s and even those yet to be veterans of the Space Force.
